Maccy is a lightweight clipboard manager focused on speed and simplicity. The app stores clipboard history and provides instant fuzzy search access through a keyboard shortcut (default: Command+Shift+C). The workflow consists of opening search, typing a few characters, and pressing Enter to paste.

The fuzzy search locates partial matches within longer strings, enabling quick retrieval of text copied days earlier. The app stores up to 999 items (configurable) with search remaining instant regardless of history size. A 500ms clipboard polling interval balances responsiveness with system efficiency.

The keyboard-first design eliminates mouse interaction: Command+Shift+C to open, type to search, Enter to paste, Escape to cancel. Number keys 1-9 provide quick access to recent items. After brief familiarization, the workflow becomes automatic.

Privacy features include automatic exclusion of password manager clipboard entries. All data stays local in a SQLite database with no cloud synchronization, analytics, or account requirements. The open-source codebase allows independent security auditing.

Technical specifications: minimal resource usage with negligible CPU impact. Requires macOS 14 or newer. Requires Accessibility permissions for clipboard monitoring.

Installation options: direct download, Homebrew (brew install maccy), or Mac App Store. Free and open source under MIT license. Mac App Store version costs $9.99 to support development but provides identical functionality.

Developer Alex Rodionov maintains active development with responsive issue handling on GitHub.

Limitations include the minimal feature set compared to managers with preview panes, categories, or cloud sync. Users needing rich media previews or organizational features may prefer alternatives.

Alternatives include Paste (feature-rich, subscription), CopyClip (free, basic), and Raycast (built-in clipboard history).

Suitable for users who prioritize speed over features, prefer keyboard-driven workflows, or require privacy-focused clipboard management.
