BannerHither solves a multi-display annoyance: macOS always shows notification banners on the primary monitor, regardless of where you are working. The app intercepts this behavior and redirects banners to a configurable target.
Three routing modes are available: the display under the mouse cursor, the display containing the currently active window, or a fixed display specified by the user. Full notification functionality is preserved—clicks, swipe-to-dismiss, and notification action buttons all continue to operate normally.
The app runs as a menu bar item with no Dock icon, keeping a minimal presence. It uses a universal binary supporting both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and performs no data collection. Update checks are optional and use GitHub’s API; the app makes no other network requests.
System requirements
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later (verified on macOS 26 Tahoe)
- Requires Accessibility permission
- Available via GitHub Releases (notarized) or Homebrew
Limitations
- macOS 14 minimum excludes older systems
- Routing behavior depends on Accessibility permission being granted
- No App Store distribution
Alternatives
- Native macOS settings: Basic notification preferences without display routing
- Mango (paid): Notification management with additional filtering
Suitable for users with multi-display setups who want notifications to appear on the screen they are actively using rather than a fixed primary display.
