Lightweight battery monitor with floating alerts that follow your cursor to prevent mid-work shutdowns

Plug That In delivers highly visible battery alerts before MacBooks reach critical power levels. The app addresses a common workflow interruption where default macOS battery warnings go unnoticed during focused work, leading to unexpected shutdowns.

The utility sits in the menu bar and provides floating notifications that follow the cursor at 60 frames per second, making alerts difficult to ignore. Users can configure battery thresholds at 30%, 25%, 20%, 15%, 10%, or 5%, with notification durations from 1 to 10 seconds. A reminder mode offers extended alerts lasting 15, 30, or 60 seconds with optional sound alerts every 5 seconds for situations where immediate action is not possible.

Smart Do Not Disturb functionality automatically detects active microphone, camera, or audio/video playback and suppresses alerts accordingly. This prevents interruptions during presentations or calls while maintaining menu bar visibility for battery status.

The app supports light and dark themes with high-visibility fixed colors. Multi-language support includes English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, and French. At 1.6 MB, the app has minimal impact on system resources.

System requirements include macOS 14.6 or later. Pricing is $0.99 on the Mac App Store as a one-time purchase. The developer maintains a strict privacy policy with no data collection.

Limitations include dependency on macOS 14.6+, which excludes older systems. The app focuses specifically on battery monitoring and does not include broader power management features found in alternatives like AlDente.

Suitable for users who frequently work unplugged on MacBooks and need more prominent battery warnings than macOS provides natively, particularly during video calls or focused work sessions.
