Focus on one task at a time with menu bar visibility and smart reminders

MonoFocus screenshot showing the app interface

MonoFocus displays a single task in the menu bar to maintain focus on one objective at a time. The app consolidates tasks from multiple productivity platforms into a unified interface while keeping the current priority always visible.

The menu bar integration shows the active task continuously, providing quick access to all tasks through full-text search with support for partial matches and misspellings. Users can browse deadlines, labels, and priorities without switching applications. A configurable reminder system displays notifications when switching between apps, with adjustable position and frequency to prevent distraction drift.

Task management includes two-way synchronization with Trello, Todoist, GitHub, GitLab, Slack, Jira Cloud, Things, Apple Reminders, and OmniFocus Pro. Tasks automatically update across platforms when marked complete or moved between states. The app also supports local projects for users who prefer standalone task management without external integrations.

Quick Entry functionality enables rapid task creation via keyboard shortcut without interrupting workflow. All task operations—completion, opening, searching, and modification—are accessible through keyboard shortcuts for efficient navigation. Tasks can be organized by grouping into custom projects like “Today” or thematic collections, with completion actions configurable per integration (archive, delete, or move to alternate lists).

MonoFocus stores all data locally on the user’s Mac with no server transmission. Credentials for third-party integrations are encrypted using the native Apple Keychain. The app is built with native macOS technologies for efficient memory usage and battery performance. Requires macOS 10.15 or later.

Currently available free during public beta. The app will transition to a paid annual subscription model for updates after the 1.0 release, though purchased versions remain usable perpetually without renewal. Beta users will receive a discount on the paid version.

Limitations include macOS-only availability with no Windows or Linux versions planned. GitHub integration requires OAuth authentication with general repository permissions rather than granular access control.

Suitable for users managing tasks across multiple platforms who need persistent focus reminders and keyboard-driven task management without switching between applications.
